NAHU has created the new complimentary Ethics course in response to numerous member requests. Following sound ethical practices is essential for any business, but especially so for an insurance professional.

Continuing Education Information
Agents/Producers are required to have 16 hours of Continuing Education. Two (2) of these hours must be ethics. If the Agent holds a health license, the agent must complete one (1) hour of Oklahoma Healthcare Reform/HIPAA training. Effective January 1, 2002, all health Agents must also complete one (1) hour of Long Term Care training.

Registered Employee Benefits Consultant (REBC) Program
The REBC program focuses on providing the student the knowledge necessary to become a professional in the sale and service of employee benefits plans. Individuals earning the REBC designation develop an understanding of the various types of group benefits and retirement plans, and the practical knowledge needed for choosing and/or designing the best benefits package that will meet the clientÂ’s needs.

Registered Health Underwriter (RHU) Program
The RHU designation is the undisputed professional credential for persons involved in the sale and service of disability income and health insurance. Individuals earning the RHU designation demonstrate a high level of knowledge about the principles and practices governing the disability income and health insurance business.

RHU REBC Reading Room
Disability Income Associate (DIA)
A DIA designation means that participants have acquired knowledge of the health care industry and the role of disability income insurance in protecting individuals from the financial losses that often attend serious physical injuries and other severe health afflictions. Upon completion of this course of study, students will understand the fundamentals of the health insurance industry, the role of disability insurance within the health care continuum, and recent disability trends.

NEW Designation coming! EHBA (Employee Health Benefits Associate)
The designation will be co-sponsored by NAHU and AHIP. The details will be announced during the National Convention in San Francisco in June of this year.
The State Education Chair - Barry Wilson has been working with the Oklahoma Insurance Department to obtain approval for CE credits for the courses offered during National Convention this year. Barry will keep us posted.
